What is a School-Parent Compact?

 

A School-Parent Compact for Achievement is an agreement that parents, students and teachers develop together.

 

It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all students reach or exceed grade-level standards.

 

 
 

Communication about Student Learning

 

Communication between parents and teachers is crucial to student success. At 10th Street Elementary we provide various opportunities for teacher/parent communication including:

 

  1. parent conferences after each reporting period
  2. the availability of academic reports for parent viewing
  3. opportunities to volunteer and participate throughout the year
  4. an open door policy for classroom observations

Jointly Developed

 

10th Street Elementary has developed a written Title I parental involvement policy with input from parents and staff. The document was reviewed, planned, and improved during ELAC, SSC, and LSL meetings.

Students

  1. Attend school regularly and arrive at school on time
  2. Complete all daily homework and return it to school on time
  3. Follow school wide positive behavior plan and the Leader in Me Principles
  4. Be responsible for giving my family members all information sent home from school
  5. Read everyday
  6. Respect all students and adults on campus
  7. Maintain all cellphones or electronic devices turned off inside backpack and not bring toys to school

 

District Goals

 Goal 1   Proficiency for all in English Language Arts and Mathematics

Goal 2  All English Language Learners at the elementary level will advance in English   Language Development and reclassify within five years of instruction

Goal 3  100% Attendance

Goal 4  100%  Graduation from High School

Goal 5   Parents and Community Engagement

Goal 6  Health and Safety

In the Classroom

  1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment
  2. Provide parents with regular reports on their children’s academic and behavioral progress  
  3. Set high expectations for staff, students, and parents by ensuring a challenging curriculum and implementing programs targeted at increasing student achievement
  4. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class
  5. Provide parents reasonable access to staff and services

 

At Home

  1. Establish routines to support my child’s success in school:
    • appropriate bed time
    • monitor attendance
    • homework & reading
    • nutrition
    • grooming & hygiene
  2. Communicate the significance of success in school & its relationship with success in life
  3. Instill respect towards classmates and all adults on campus
  4. Provide a volunteer time to the school during the school year
  5. Ensure that my child attends school on a regular basis and arrives at school on time
  6. Make sure that my child’s homework is completed and returned to school on time
  7. Stay informed about my child’s education and communicate with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school or the school district either received by my child or by mail and responding as appropriate
  8. Inform office staff of any change in contact information
  9. Review cellphone policy and do not allow students to bring toys to school
